KUALA LUMPUR, 28 AUGUST – This day has marked history for Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and Project Paplet as they were honoured with being listed in the Malaysia Book of Records for “The Most Number of Booklets Made from Recycled Papers.” The event took place at Publika, where the ceremony was successfully officiated by the Dean of College of General and Foundation Studies (CFGS) UNITEN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainuddin bin Hassan, accompanied by the Deputy Dean of CFGS for Student Affairs and External Relations, Dr. Rosmiza binti Mokhtar.

Production swiftly started at 10am, where they aimed to produce 1000 paplets at every hour in order to generate a whopping total of 10000 paplets at the end of the event. With the help of over 90 volunteers from the Soft Skills, Enhancement and Learning Support (SEALS) Club, UNITEN, production ended an hour earlier than the stipulated time with an excess of 114 booklets. A grand total of 10 114 booklets were produced on the day.

Also attending the event was Mohammed Alex, the official from Malaysia Book of Records, who came to monitor the progress of the event. As the last 10 booklets were being formed, a countdown was initiated with great enthusiasm, met with an excited round of applause and cheers from the audience.

With great pride, Uniten and Project Paplet were graciously awarded for their outstanding feat of being the first to ever produce 10, 114 booklets made entirely from recycled paper with merely manpower. The mark imprinted on Uniten’s history shall not easily be forgotten in time.

“I hope we can all do something like this, even after the event,” remarked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zainuddin Bin Hassan, “Think about saving the world for a better future.”
