KAJANG, 1st May 2018 – Two teams representing Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) have emerged victorious in the Malaysia Qualifying Rounds of ICAEW Malaysia Regional Business Challenge 2018. The two teams, Team Outliers and Team Preeminence, have earned themselves a cheque of RM1200, a plaque, fast-track tickets to Maybank GO Ahead Challenge 2018 Campus Level as well as a spot in the National Finals to fight for the right of representing Malaysia in the Southeast Asian finals in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Nurkhaireen Syamim Alizan, the sole female member of Team Preeminence was determined to win after her team’s success in the Qualifying Rounds. “I’m not satisfied yet. Winning means we have a bigger responsibility to win once more and become the best.”

Team Preeminence, which comprises of three students from UNITEN Muadzam Shah and three students from UNITEN Putrajaya, championed the Central Region after an intense clash with nineteen other teams in Multimedia University, Cyberjaya. Meanwhile, Team Outliers from UNITEN Muadzam Shah were crowned winners in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) over their performance in the Southern Region.

Empowering Women with Science – STEM Education Fair

KUALA LUMPUR, 18th April – A STEM Education event was organized by SMK Convent, Jalan Peel on the 18th April 2018 (Wednesday) from 8:20 am to 1:00 pm. The event catered to expose around 1000 female students from the ages of 13 to 17 to STEM education, with a focus on technology and how it changes the world around us. IET Uniten On Campus, with the support of with the support Uniten Electrical Power Department and Uniten Marketing Department, was one of the institutions invited to participate in this event. The participants from Uniten consisted of 3 IET committee members, one lecturer from College of Engineering (COE), two lecturers from College of Computer Science & Information Technology (CSIT) and one representative from Uniten Marketing Department.

How To: Photography Workshop

KAJANG , 11th  April 2018 – On April 11th 2018, Skuad Media Uniten organized their first ever photography workshop. The workshop, titled ‘How To: Photography’, was conducted by Muhammad Amir Muzzammil Bin Zulkifli. Amir is a UNITEN graduate who majored in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and currently works as a freelance photographer at 4 Lensa Photography.

UNITEN Student’s Visit Southern Edible Oil for Real-life Work Exposure

KAPAR, 8th March –  A site visit to Southern Edible Oil was organized by IET UNITEN On Campus on the 8th of March 2018 (Thursday) from 8:00am to 1:00pm, catered to expose a total of 35 students to the real working conditions and knowledge about palm oil capsules manufacturing. Departing at 8.15am with breakfast along the journey, participants were welcomed after an hour’s journey by Southern Edible Oil’s representative, Mr Hii.

Local Hero “SuperPtuih” Reignites the Love for Theatre among Students

KAJANG, APRIL 4TH 2018 – The UNITEN Library auditorium was roaring with applause last Tuesday (27th of March) as the story of Ptuih, Helium and Maseh Dara came to a satisfying conclusion. The characters, which were played by Ammar Dzulkifli, Jaie Azlan and Ally Hazrin respectively, stole the audiences’ hearts despite their questionable morals and their mental issues thanks to brilliant and hard, raw acting. The play, entitled ‘SUPERPTUIH! Dan transit kaler magenta’, was received overwhelmingly well by audiences. The play focuses on the relationship of three siblings, and how they deal with their corrupt father while touching on the crumbling integrity of the society around them. Most of the play is set at a fictional KTM station, where the complex, yet loving relationship between the three siblings is deconstructed for the audience to observe.

KUSA Annual Grand Meeting

KAJANG, 31st MARCH 2018 – Dated 26th March 2018, the Annual Grand Meeting of Koperasi Uniten was  conducted. It took place at BV Theatre at 6:30 p.m. and ended by 7:15 p.m. A sum of 30 students and alumni along with the guest of honour, Puan Norazizun binti Mohd Saad, Director of UNITEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER, were present.

The meeting began with a short brief about the overall meeting held by the Head of Cooperative and Entrepreneur Development, Gavin Rajkumar. The objective of the club is to give opportunity to students and alumni of UniTen a place to establish ideas and invest into business.

Tough Questions, Tougher Answers – Townhall Session 2018

KAJANG, 10th January 2018 – Student Representative Council – Townhall Session 2018 was held in Dewan Seri Sarjana (DSS) on the 10th of January from 800pm to 1130pm. Organized by the Student Representative Council (SRC), Townhall Session 2018 aims to inform students of the recent renovations made in Kelompok Cendekiawan and Kelompok Murni and provide students with an outlet to voice out their opinions regarding any issues pertaining to UNITEN so that they may be quickly rectified.

The event featured a few prominent figures of UNITEN management including Prof. Dr. Mohd. Zamri bin Yusoff, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UNITEN, Tn Hj Ruzli bin Zairazi, Director of Student Affairs Center (SAC),  En Razif Mohazar bin Ramli, Accommodation Unit Executive, and also En Amar Amjad bin Abdul Wahid, founder of the #KITAUNITEN social movement.  The president of UNITEN Student Representative Council (SRC), Roshan Charles Razali served as the moderator of the event.

PPKA’s KASMA 2.0 A Success!

Participants of KASMA 2.0 were extremely happy after three days of the sports carnival.

KAJANG, January 12th – Persatuan Pelajar Kelompok Amanah (PPKA) conducted ‘Karnival Sukan Kelompok Amanah 2.0’ (KASMA), a fun and exciting sports-based carnival on the 5th – 7th of January 2018 in Kelompok Amanah itself. The sports carnival was attended by over 140 participants, consisting of both students and staff members, and held tournaments for a variety of fun and unique original games. Karamjit Singh A/L Harminder Singh served as KASMA 2.0’s director and was assisted by President of Kelompok Amanah cum Deputy Director KASMA 2.0 Muhammad Amer Danial Bin Rahmat as well as the members of PPKA themselves.

Students from all backgrounds were given a fair platform to showcase their talents in all the sporting events organized. Aside from badminton and other well-known sports, unique competitions were also held such as “Lumba Motorsikal Paling Lambat”, which translates to “The Slowest Motorcycle Race”.  Despite a very diverse category of games, all of them shared something in common which was to be a fun, memorable experience for students on their weekend off whilst promoting necessary and important skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. It also served partly as a stress-reliever as the semester nears its end.

Chinese Cultural Society – Musical Drama Night 2018

KAJANG, 7th January 2018 – Chinese Cultural Society – Musical Drama Night 2018 was held in Dewan Seri Sarjana (DSS) on the 3rd of January, from 7pm to 10pm. The drama night was an annual event held by Chinese Cultural Society (CCS) to foster good relations between the club and UNITEN students as well as students from other universities. The planning of Musical Drama Night 2018 itself started back in June 2017 and the practice started around October 2017 where everything was set in motion.
