Tough Questions, Tougher Answers – Townhall Session 2018

KAJANG, 10th January 2018 – Student Representative Council – Townhall Session 2018 was held in Dewan Seri Sarjana (DSS) on the 10th of January from 800pm to 1130pm. Organized by the Student Representative Council (SRC), Townhall Session 2018 aims to inform students of the recent renovations made in Kelompok Cendekiawan and Kelompok Murni and provide students with an outlet to voice out their opinions regarding any issues pertaining to UNITEN so that they may be quickly rectified.

The event featured a few prominent figures of UNITEN management including Prof. Dr. Mohd. Zamri bin Yusoff, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UNITEN, Tn Hj Ruzli bin Zairazi, Director of Student Affairs Center (SAC),  En Razif Mohazar bin Ramli, Accommodation Unit Executive, and also En Amar Amjad bin Abdul Wahid, founder of the #KITAUNITEN social movement.  The president of UNITEN Student Representative Council (SRC), Roshan Charles Razali served as the moderator of the event.

PPKA’s KASMA 2.0 A Success!

Participants of KASMA 2.0 were extremely happy after three days of the sports carnival.

KAJANG, January 12th – Persatuan Pelajar Kelompok Amanah (PPKA) conducted ‘Karnival Sukan Kelompok Amanah 2.0’ (KASMA), a fun and exciting sports-based carnival on the 5th – 7th of January 2018 in Kelompok Amanah itself. The sports carnival was attended by over 140 participants, consisting of both students and staff members, and held tournaments for a variety of fun and unique original games. Karamjit Singh A/L Harminder Singh served as KASMA 2.0’s director and was assisted by President of Kelompok Amanah cum Deputy Director KASMA 2.0 Muhammad Amer Danial Bin Rahmat as well as the members of PPKA themselves.

Students from all backgrounds were given a fair platform to showcase their talents in all the sporting events organized. Aside from badminton and other well-known sports, unique competitions were also held such as “Lumba Motorsikal Paling Lambat”, which translates to “The Slowest Motorcycle Race”.  Despite a very diverse category of games, all of them shared something in common which was to be a fun, memorable experience for students on their weekend off whilst promoting necessary and important skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. It also served partly as a stress-reliever as the semester nears its end.

Chinese Cultural Society – Musical Drama Night 2018

KAJANG, 7th January 2018 – Chinese Cultural Society – Musical Drama Night 2018 was held in Dewan Seri Sarjana (DSS) on the 3rd of January, from 7pm to 10pm. The drama night was an annual event held by Chinese Cultural Society (CCS) to foster good relations between the club and UNITEN students as well as students from other universities. The planning of Musical Drama Night 2018 itself started back in June 2017 and the practice started around October 2017 where everything was set in motion.

Dueling It Out At Hanafuda Workshop!

KAJANG, 5th January – A Hanafuda Workshop was recently held in College of Foundation and Diploma Studies (CFDS), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) under PEEP Workshops, an educational series run by Soft-skills Enhancement and Learning Support (SEALS) UNITEN. Conducted by Japanese Cultural Club UNITEN (JCCU), Hanafuda Workshop marks one of the very first collaborations between JCCU and SEALS, though both clubs have previously organized workshops on Fridays to enrich students’ life with fun and helpful workshops.

The workshop started with a short explanation by Muhammad Wasseef bin Suhaimi about the rules of hanafuda, which is a traditional Japanese card game based on flowers that relies on your luck and memory. A one versus one game where the players take turns in drawing and collecting the cards, the players are required to organize the cards in various combinations which, based on the difficulty, will determine the points earned. The winner with most points at the end wins.

Congratulations Chew Jing Yao and Lim Kien Seng for First Place in Rekathon 2017

KUALA LUMPUR, 25th December – Two students from College of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT), UNITEN have succeeded in winning first place for Rekathon 2017. The hackathon was held in TM Convention Center, Kuala Lumpur from 16th to 17th November 2017. The winning group comprising two UNITEN students, Chew Jing Yao and Lim Kien Seng, as well as an Asian Pacific University (APU) student, as team ‘404 Not Found’ are proud and happy over their achievement.

Rekathon 2017’s aim was to spearhead innovation related with the ever-trending Internet of Things (IoT) into Malaysia. The competition which gathered 23 teams, involved both students and working professionals on-site in the 24-hour event.  The teams competed for attractive prizes worth RM10, 000 by designing new products or solutions and presenting them to a panel of judges.

As the first prize winner, 404 Not Found managed to win a RM5000 cash prize.

Leaders of UNITEN Becoming Super with Kem ‘Pemimpin Pelajar Super’!

KAJANG, 19th December – “Kem Pemimpin Pelajar Super” was organized by the Student Affairs Centre (SAC) of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) for three days and two nights beginning on 15th December 2017 and ending on 17th December 2017. Held in the Leisure Hall at Upten, the camp was participated by approximately 50 students, each representing their own respective club or society, from both Putrajaya campus and Muadzam Shah campus. The purpose of the camp was to further groom students’ leadership and soft skills through a series of modules that were conducted throughout the three days.

Book Lovers Assembled in UNITEN Library!


Visitors of “Library Clients’ and Book Lovers’ Day” satisfied after going to the program.

KAJANG, 11th December – “Library Clients and Book Lovers Day” was organized by the Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) Library on the 6th and 7th December 2017. Visited by a great number of students, the event took place in UNITEN Library starting from 9am and ending on 5pm for both days. Quite a number of activities were conducted in order to achieve the aim of the program: to attract more students to use the library’s services in the future.

For both days, a book fair was held in the 24-hour Study Area which sold books of various genres for students to purchase at a really cheap price. Students were also able to donate their old books as well as take part in quizzes and games from vendors at the e-Resources Clinic. A huge variety of food and beverages were also on sale at the main entrance.

UNITEN Students Achieve 2nd and 3rd in UNITEN’s Table Tennis Competition

KAJANG, 26th November – A table tennis competition was organised by UNITEN Putrajaya Campus’ very own Table Tennis Club on November 19th 2017 at Dewan Seri Sarjana (DSS), joined by seven teams, ranging from UNITEN Muadzam Shah Campus (UNITEN KSHAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Methodist College Kuala Lumpur (MCKL), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) as well as UNITEN Putrajaya Campus. The competition, based on a league system, ended with UNITEN Putrajaya’s Team A and Team B taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively, while the title of champion was crowned to table tennis players from UPM.

A single team consisted of seven players, who would compete against other teams in three singles matches and two doubles matches in a fight to claim first place. Hana Syafiqah, a participant from UNITEN KSHAS, expressed her joy over joining the competition, “We all felt very welcomed by UNITEN Putrajaya as we had fun and gained more experience with this friendly event. I felt energetic and surprisingly not nervous about the tournament, so I hope that there will be more events like this in the future.”
